Kovalenko A.N. Abstract. The paper considers the problem of the use of markers for in-line inspection. It is shown the possibility of using tubes with markers installed in the factory instead of setting the markers in the field. It is proposed a variant of the detection of markers using for measuring pipe wall thickness specific modules mounted on the defectoscopes VFL, which are unable to determine the thickness of the pipe wall. It gives a great saving in inspection of pipelines and eliminates the need of markers installation in the manufacture of diagnostic operations. Data are given about the method of search and localization of defects on the pipeline in the field (on site) on the location of the longitudinal weld, which significantly improves the accuracy of the localization of defective areas and reduces the cost of earthworks. Keywords: intratube flaw, flaw detector, pipeline, defect, odometer, rapper, system to determine the distance, speed.
