One of the main tasks of research of the oil films on the sea surface is determination of an oil type, i.e. pertaining the oil on light or heavy oil groups. Such information is significant for determining a source of the spilled oils. The possibility of application of internal fluorescent spectrums for defining a spilled oil type on the sea surface is considered. A new signature parameter is suggested. The optimization of remote fluorescent measurements of the oil films on the sea surface is carried out. The scheme of the measurements upon the fixed value of the excitation emission wavelength is considered where the number of the measurements in different points upon fixed wavelength is inversely proportional with wavelength. The measurements are carried out in the determined points of the spilled oil area. The number of measurements at the fixed point is inversely with number of this point. It is shown that the derivative fluorescent spectrum should increase by increase of a wavelength in the optimum regime of functioning upon the laboratory validation measurements. Keywords: fluorescent spectrum, remote sensing, oil type, optimization, information content.
