Gomera V.P., Smirnov A.D., Nefedyev E.Yu., Potapov A.I., Zotov K.V. Abstract. The paper deals with the use of acoustic emission methods for the registration and localization of crack-like defects in the weld manual arc welding and submerged arc weld cooling stage. A set of informative parameters forming the criterion space to separate the signals from defects and the signals from the noise accompanying the welding process is proposed. Use the main characteristics of AE signals as informative parameters allows rapid analysis of diagnostic results in real time. The proposed approach can reduce the volume of information processed AE system without reducing the accuracy of the testing results. Determination of the coordinates of defects with high precision makes it possible to correct them in the operative welding process with a minimum of metal excision. Keywords: weld, cracks, acoustic emission method, ultrasonic testing, capillary testing.
