Abstract. The article deals with the main ideas of the modern state of ultrasound testing based on the reconstruction of images of the internal volume of the tested object by using a coherent analysis and processing the acoustic signals reflected from structures of various heterogeneities and boundaries of the object material. Sources of articles are the proceedings of the 19th International conference on NDT, held in June 2016 in Munich, and also materials of Internet and published in the periodical scientific press in recent years.

Keywords: ultrasonic signals, US wave, imaging, phased array, synthetic aperture focusing technique, SAFT, FMC, TFM, DFA.
