Mokritskii B. Ya., Kravchenko E. G. Abstract. It is proposed to use in a production environment pendulum scribing for diagnostic health tool for the measurement of pendulum scribing trace. It allows to build the compare tool materials in random range for a qualitative assessment of its performance properties. The comparison allows to choose the most preferred tool materials according to the size (width, length, its relation) of a trace of the indenter retained in the test materials during the motion of the indenter along the arc of the pendulum swing. The indenter reproduces in the motion the nature of loading in the material. It is similar to the loading of the tool material under cyclic loading, for example when milling. The energy of motion of the indenter results in the formation of a track in the different test materials with various dimensions, that is used to predict the performance properties of cutting tools. The proposed method allows without conducting expensive and lengthy production testing to identify a preferred tool material among the compared materials by the measurement of the size of a track of the pendulum scribing. Keywords: indenter, scribing, model of loading of instrumental material, operability of an instrument.
