Grebennikov D. V., Grebennikov V. V., Titov V. Yu. Abstract. The article describes the theoretical calculations and experimental studies on the field of directional diagrams of the piezoelectric phased array transducers; the possibility of ultrasonic beam focusing on the basis of a study of focal spot is given. The study of the acoustic path transducer phased array was conducted to interpret the processes in a controlled object and improve reliability of the testing. Obtained results of the study of the field directional diagrams for transducers of phased array flaw detector of OmniScan type with the different entry angles (40, 50, 60, 70 degrees) and frequencies (2.25 and 5.0 MHz). Investigations of coefficient of transparency on border prismsteel, as well as the size of focal spot on the sample setup with flat-bottomed holes with a diameter of 2 mm. The results of study allows to conclude that there are differences between theoretical and experimental data when measuring field directional diagrams and ways to adjust calculated values. The dependences obtained for coefficient of transparency and focal spot of angle ultrasonic beam are shown. Keywords: phase array flaw detecter, piezoelectric transducer, field direction diagrams, focal spot, side – drils holes.
