Abstract. The article provides a summary of the IV of ”VUZPROMEKSPO – 2016” annual national exhibition, held in Moscow on the territory of “Expocentre” from 14 to 15 De-cember 2016 under the patronage of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. The exhibition was accompanied by an extensive business program. The exhi-bition clearly demonstrated the results of the most significant for the Russian science of applied research, including in terms of their implementation in the domestic industry. To improve the efficiency of research engineering centers and centers of excellence were established in many universities. One of the main objectives of the event was to improve co-operation of educational institutions of higher education and industrial enterprises, promote the use of the capacity of Russian institutions of higher learning and research institutions to develop high-tech industry and innovation in the Russian economy. Particular emphasis is made in this review on the achievements of the technical universities of Russia in the field of instrumentation and mechanical engineering.
