Komarov V. A. Abstract. The mutual transformation of the nonuniform electromagnetic and acoustic fields in a magnetostrictive medium is of particular interest because it allows to carry out contactless measurements that give information on the ferromagnet and, hence, on many processes caused by both external effect on the material and its internal state. The topographic distribution of the bulk waves excited in a magnetostrictive medium by a nonuniform quasistationary electromagnetic field generated by induction radiators is illustrated (magnetostrictive generation mechanism). The formulae to obtain the distribution have been written on the basis of the calculations made earlier. The elastic displacements produced by the waves have been calculated for arbitrary electromagnetic and acoustic wavelengths relations [1]. The universal curves of the amplitude displacements of longitudinal and shear waves from the generalised parameter which is the ratio of the acoustic and electromagnetic wavelengths are presented. The ranges of efficient field transformation have been found out. An explanation for the appearance of maximum of efficiency on the basis of rapprochements of the wavelengths of the electromagnetic field and the longitudinal wave in one direction near the surface – of the quasiresonance has been suggested. Keywords: transformation of electromagnetic and acoustic fields, plated emitter, Joule effect.
