Mikhalev V. V. Abstract. The article gives a brief analysis of known works according to the inspection of thin-walled welded joints. It is noted the use of an inclined combined piezoelectric and chord transducers. The results of studies on the formation of the acoustic field of the transducer obtained quantitative data on the displacement of the input angle by increasing the operating frequency. The optimal frequencies and angles for ultrasonic inspection of thin walled welded joints are presented. The high-frequency angle beam probes were designed, manufactured and tested. The tests were carried out on samples with a pipes diameter of 32 mm and a wall thickness of 4 mm with real defects (incomplete penetration and holes). The results were compared with radiography. The reliability of ultrasonic inspection in comparison with radiography was evaluated. The accuracy of ultrasonic testing is equal to 0,76. Keywords: ultrasonic testing, piezoelectric transducers, thin-walled welded joints, the defect, the angle of incidence, the operating frequency of the control.
