THE SENSOR ELEMENT ON SURFACE ACOUSTIC WAVE FOR LEAK DETECTION, GAS ANALYSIS AND MOBILE MULTI SENSOR SYSTEM
(pp. 36-42)

Abstract. A gas analysis tasks can be successfully solved with power of gas detection devices, i.e. chemical sensors, which are based on solid state gas sensing elements, which are made according to technology of microminiaturization. Such analytic systems typically include semiconductor, optical, piezoelectric sensitive elements and devices. The article presents the results of research and analysis for mass-sensitive piezoelectric sensor element operating on surface acoustic waves (SAW-sensor). The studies performed directly by the authors and the interesting results obtained and published by other researchers were analyzed. The peculiarities of the functioning the sensors having a special sensitive coverage and the sensors without it were discussed. The article gives the advantages of building a SAW-sensors in a differential mode that allow to perform a significant compensation of many confounding factors and obtain a much more accurate and stable output signal. The purpose of this analysis is to assess the possibility and potential effectiveness of the use of a sensor on surface acoustic waves for solutions of the leakage testing and gas analysis.

Keywords: leak detection, gas analysis, mobile Multisimweed system.
