Ushakov V. M. Abstract. The article presents data of radiographic (RK) and ultrasonic inspection (UK) of buttwelded joints with thickness about 2…6 mm. The author gives a brief description of the characteristics of the transducers that have been used. The results obtained in the pilot production operational testing of welded joints of pipelines plant are also presented. The article presents comparative analysis of discontinuities identified through RK and ultrasonic testing. The comparative description of detected discontinuities is given here. It is shown that using ultrasonic and RK allows to identify confidently most dangerous lack of extended penetration (incomplete fusion), long chains. The reliability of ultrasonic inspection is equal to 0.76. Keywords: thin-walled welded joints, methods control, ultrasonic and radiographic testing, piezoelectric transducer, an inconsistent, reliability.
