METHOD OF ROLLER BEARING TECHNICAL STATE DIAGNOSTICS DURING BENCH TESTS OF GAS TURBINE ENGINE

Abstract. This paper describes technical state diagnostics of roller bearing of rotor of gas turbine engine. This gas turbine engine was tested by longterm test on the bench. In the process of this test amount of lube in the bearing was decreasing step by step. The phases of bearing defect are described in the paper: from first symptoms of insufficiency of lubrication to extreme case – bearing starvation characterized by change of controlled vibration spectrum and increase of temperature of outer bearing race. It is known that bearing starvation produces nonsynchronous precession of rotor on its first critical speed that causes changes in spectrum of controlled vibration. This paper presents new diagnostics method that can discover insufficient lubrication of roller bearing of gas turbine engine’s rotor at first stage of the defect. This method allows to prevent the breakdown linked with the damage of the bearing.
