Mokritskii B. Ya., Usova T. I., Mokritskaya E. B., Ershova T. B. Abstract. In production situations, there are more and more frequent cases of rejecting products according to the critical magnitude of the defect. It is difficult to detect and especially to measure the size of this defect for the product made from a material having low reflectivity. Using the optical or electron microscopes for these purposes is either unsuitable or require complex sample preparation. In case of difficulties in carrying out such measurements, they are usually referred to the units of the department of the chief metrologist of the enterprise. Such a department at a modern machine-building enterprise is provided with modern equipment, including multisensor systems such as video-measuring machines. However, different models may give different results of measurement, which may radically influence the decision about rejects or the suitability of the product. The results of comparative studies on measuring the size of microcracks in two video measuring machines of different manufacturers are considered. The measurements were carried out on artificial microcracks arising from the indentation of samples of aviation materials using a diamond cone. Keywords: сracks, measurement, video measuring machine.
