Matveev V. I. Abstract. The article is devoted to P. K. Oshchepkov, the founder of the national radar, the first practical tests of which took place in july 1934. Radar gave impetus to the development of radiovision, radiowave method of non-destructive testing and technical diagnostics and in the future such promising areas as georadars, wall imagers and medical radars.
