Komarov V. A. Abstract. Analytical expressions for calculation of elastic displacements and the secondary electromagnetic field at direct, return and double mutual transformation of electromagnetic and acoustic fields (EMAT) include magnetoelastic constants. These constants considerably define the efficiency of fields’ transformation. These are connected with a volume magnetostriction. It is theoretically proved and experimentally shown that this connection is realized through the derivative of the magnetostriction with respect to magnetization from the high-frequency field. If the variable magnetization is significantly less than magnetization from the polarizing field, then connection tends to the derivative of the magnetostriction with respect to magnetization from the polarizing field. With the exception of magnetoelastic constants the efficiency of EMAT is influenced by magnetic permeability on variation field. This permeability is combined with various parameters and included into the theoretical description of the task. By means of permeability it is possible to replace the derivative of the magnetostriction with respect to magnetization on more convenient derivative of the magnetostriction with respect to polarizing field. Keywords: magnetoelasticity, Joule effect, derivative of the magnetostriction with respect to magnetization, electromagnetic acoustic transformation.
