TWO WAVELENGTHS MODEL METHOD FOR DETERMINATION OF OIL EMULSION DEPTH ON THE SEA SURFACE IN INFRARED BAND
(pp. 38-41)

Abstract. The suggested two wavelengths method for determination of oil emulsion depth on the sea surface in infrared band is described. The possibility of utilization of known single wavelength method for determination of depth of oil emulsion on the sea surface is analyzed. It is noted that that this method don’t allow to derive the simple analytical formulaes for calculation of emulsion depth and level of emulsification. The further development of single wavelength model for determination of oil emulsion width on the sea surface by transition to two wavelengths allows to obtain the analytical model formulaes for separated computing of low depths of oil emulsions. On the basis of known single wavelength method the two wavelengths method is suggested which in the case of low exponential parameter allows to derive the analytical formulae for calculation of above said parameters. The possibility for decrease of volume of carried out calculations by way of pair wise realization of analytical calculation of one of said parameters and further graphical determination of other one is shown for special cases. It is noted that error of suggested two wavelengths method mainly depends on error of approximation of exponential function used in single wavelength method of measurements. According to given estimates if the parameter of exponent is less than 0.1, the accuracy of method equals to 1…2 % which is acceptable. But if said parameter reaches 0.2 the error of calculation comes near to 10…12 % and further increase of error becomes unacceptable.

Keywords: oil emulsion, depth of film, two wavelength method, level of emulsification, sea pollution.
