In this article, using the example of multi-strand rope inspection, encircling eddy current testing (ECT) probes for non-destructive testing of closed linearly extended objects, for example, stay cables, ropeways or pipelines, are considered. These ECT probes can be divided into parts in the azimuthal direction, which increases the technological effectiveness of the control. The possibility of dividing the ECT probes into parts is provided by using of saddle-shaped measuring coils, saddle-shaped excitation coils or excitation coils of different radii. In addition, the considered ECT probes allow to increase the signal-to-noise ratio. Keywords: non-destructive testing, eddy current testing, multistrand stay cables, mathematical modeling.
