The reasons leading to the lack of proper diagnostic support for electronic equipment (REE), which is necessary to ensure their proper quality and reliability, are disclosed. Ignoring the issues of creating proper diagnostic support has a negative effect on the organization of production processes, further operation and repair of REE. The reasons for the lack of proper diagnostic support for REA are largely determined by the imperfection of the regulatory and technical base in the form of outdated state standards, the lack of domestic modern hardware and software diagnostic complexes on the Russian market and the availability of opportunities to circumvent the issues of building proper diagnostic support when developing REE. The reasons can be eliminated by creating a set of regulatory and technical documents that take into account the modern development of electronic, computing and measuring technology. Keywords: electronic equipment, diagnostic support, technical diagnostic means, diagnostic methods, diagnostic parameters, hardware-software diagnostic complex, regulatory and technical base, life cycle stages, technical assignment, development work.
