Abstract. In this paper the problem of potential radon hazard in the territory of the city of St. Petersburg is investigated using mathematical methods and the development of a geoinformation system. The field measurements of the radon volume activity made it possible to obtain data that were analyzed using mathematical methods. As a result, an experimental and theoretical variogram was constructed, as well as a cross-validation of the data to assess the reliability of the results obtained. The developed geoinformation system allows you to visualize and analyze information about the radiation situation in the city, which makes it relevant and important for making strategic decisions to ensure safety. Keywords: radon, potential radon hazard, mathematical methods, geoinformation system, kriging method, safety.
