ABOUT THE RADIATION PATTERN OF COMBINED OBLIQUE TRANSDUCER IN THE ULTRASONIC TESTING OF METAL THROUGH A CLADDING LAYER (pp. 12-19)
Abstract. It is reported about the developed model of calculation of displacement of a lateral wave emitted by the slanted transducer through the cladding layer with low compared with the base metal speed of transverse waves. The model allows to study the effect of such a layer. Calculations of the radiation patterns of piezoplate converter (according I. N. Ermolov) depending on the angle of the direction of the point of entry have shown a displacement of the maximum of the diagrams in the direction of the values of an angle, which are smaller than the values of the angle of the rated input, as well as a reduction in the width of the chart. These features depend both on speed of shear waves in a layer and its thickness and on value of the angle of transducer input. Their registration can be useful in the practical ultrasonic technique of metal through a cladding layer.
