This is the reason why nondestructive testing of coating on components of responsible appointment is very important. Different nondestructive testing methods for coating thickness measurement are analyzed in this article. The position of the eddy current method among other methods of nondestructive testing is shown. There are described different problems that eddy current testing can solve. The most difficult problem is when both coating and base materials are ionconductive and it’s especially difficult if we do not know specific conductivity of both layers. It is necessary to use more than one frequency for probe’s current in this case. Special units for the most responsible appointments of aerospace technique are described as the examples of modern thickness gauges. Another problem for thickness measurement is a metrological assurance. It is described difficulties of special samples making. There’s noted that one set of samples can be more expensive then thickness gauge in essence. Keywords: eddy current method, the protective coating, the thickness of the coating, plating, plating, specific electric conductivity, magnetic permeability, eddy current probes invoice introduced by the voltage measurement accuracy, a controlled setting, disturbing factor, detuning, metrological provision.
