ABOUT A NOVEL MACHINERY VIBRATION MONITORING TECHNIQUE WITH INCIPIENT FAULT DETECTION AND LOCALIZATION CAPABILITY
(pp. 70-79)

Abstract. The paper presents and discusses a novel condition monitoring technique giving the alternative approach to vibration monitoring. It aims for exploration of machinery part damages early detection, localization and identification of the vibration sources using dimensionless supersensitive vibration characteristics called S-discriminants. Their trends along the machinery operating time give good foundation (in complete with other vibration features) for failure prediction. The software and hardware system for vibration discriminant analysis designed by Machinery Vibroacoustical Diagnostics Department specialists of IMASH RAN is successfully applied for “hidden” and incipient fault detection in aero derivative gas turbine engines operated at gas compressor stations. The results are discussed in the paper.

Keywords: vibration, vibromonitoring, discriminant analysis, machinery, operational damages, fault detection.
