Savchenkov S.V., Spiridovich E.A., Mikhalev A.Y., Aginey R.V. Abstract. Control of effective work of electrochemical protection of main pipelines developed with the use of devices determining the corrosion rate. Promising device is an ultrasonic measuring corrosion rate. This article describes the progress and results of experimental studies aimed at establishing the identification of local corrosion defects on the analysis of information obtained from stationary ultrasonic meters of corrosion rate. As results of researches, experimental dependence, reflecting the nature of the changes in the amplitude of the first bottom echo with increasing size of local defects were obtained. Depending on obtained results, it can be used for detailed analysis of the data recorded by the corrosion rate meter in order to describe the nature of the corrosion damage. Keywords: corrosion monitoring, corrosion defects, ultrasonic thickness.
