Gorshkov V. A. Abstract. The primary method of density estimation of the object with complex chemical composition is the dual densitometry. This method has been successfully used in densitometry of infinitely thin liquid with uniform density and composition. But this method is not applicable for objects consisting of components with different chemical composition, density and thickness. It is shown, that densitometry on the base of the X-ray sources with continuous energy spectra has significant systematic error. The paper presents a method of unbiased density estimation in the finite thickness objects with inhomogeneous chemical composition on the base of sources with continuous spectra. Keywords: density, dual energy densitometry, X-rays, continuous spectrum, heterogeneous object.
