Rodjushkin V.M., Uglov A.L., Hlybov A.A. Abstract. In the paper studies are conducted on the brake discs of high-speed passenger rail transport wagons with operational defects such as cracks. For comparison, results are used as starting new wheels without defects. To adjust the equipment used area of the brake disc, in which the material is not subject to external influences performance. The magnitude of wear thickness is determined by the availability of disk drives for further exploitation. It is shown that the thickness of the disc can be determined by using the longitudinal wave. Damage control of brake discs is was carried out using surface waves. The pa-rameters of elastic waves depend on the direction of propagation. Thus the anisotropy of acoustic properties of the surface layer of the metal disk can serve as a diagnostic parameter of condition of a disc, its suitability for use. It is shown that the speed of elastic waves in the metal disk decreases with increasing wear of the brake discs. It is proposed to use the value of the velocity of elastic waves as a diagnostic parameter of degradation processes. Keywords: elastic waves, damage, hardness, resource.
