Shilin A.N., Shilin A.A., Artyushenko N.S. Abstract. From the analysis of accidents in the energy system of Russia follows that the most unreliable element of the energy system are overhead power lines. Therefore efficiency of fault location VLEP reduces downtime and thus improves the reliability index – availability factor or the probability of failure-free operation. Currently, the energy system has different tools for fault location (WMD). The most widely used devices whose operation is based on the location of the probe pulse on the controlled section of the line and on the measurement of the time delay of the reflected pulse from the accident site. Devices in this class designed to deal with normalized errors, satisfying the practical requirements. However, in the real fault location error may significantly exceed normalized due to the factors listed above. The article analyzes the sources of reflectometers errors. The main source of reflectometers error is the error of the phase of velocity pulse. The expressions for calculating the phase error rate in the deviations of the parameters of lines depending on the frequency were obtained. The study results help reasonably choose constructive parameters of the instrument. Keywords: emergency modes overhead power lines, monitoring overhead power lines, line with distributed parameters, tools for fault location of overhead power lines, reflectometer.
