AUTOMATEDTESTING OF WELDED JOINTSUSING ULTRASOUNDANTENNA LATTICES
(pp. 100–104)

Abstract. The principle of operation and construction of automated ultrasonic weld testing systems are expounded. Testing is performed with a couple of antenna arrays located at both sides of a welding joint. Several ultrasonic methods are used with cross probing of the weld and the heat-affected zone. A laser-optical system performs weld monitoring and scanning course correction, providing also measuring of weld edges shift. B, C and B-tomograms received by the system are given as well as a view of testing results.
