Shkatov P.N., Mostyaev I.V. Abstract. In the article it is shown the analysis of eddy-current testing possibilities using magnetic fluid to detect defects that located on the internal side of hollow non-magnetic conductive objects scanning the external surface. Detecting of defects on the internal surface using eddy-current testing is complicated. The reason is an influence of surface variation on eddy-current signal and screening effect of metal above the defect. To solve this problem, the hollow of the controlled object is filled magnetic fluid. Magnetic fluid fills the hollow under the action of capillary forces. Finally the external surface is scanned by eddy-current probe. An appropriate selected frequency of the excitation current manage to suppress the influence of the shape of the surface and to provide acceptable sensitivity defects. Keywords: eddy current testing, magnetic liquid, defectoscopy.
