Konovalov N.N., Dergachev A.N. Abstract. During the last years due to technical development the coherent methods of ultrasonic testing have become perspective. These methods permit to pass from one-parameter to two-parameter reliability estimation of the ultrasonic testing. The article is devoted to the comparison of these two methods of reliability estimation. Bilateral welds of low-alloyed steel with the width of 10 mm were used to estimate reliability. The experiment shows that use of two parameters reduces the consumer risk on 9,6 and 16 % in comparison with the use of one parameter (for estimating amplitude or defect size only). Keywords: ultrasonic testing, welds, reliability, two-parameter estimation.
