Marukovich E. I., Bondarev Yu. O., Druzhinin A. Yu. Abstract. In the article the questions of the inspection at the all processing stages of the foundry are arisen. The attention is focused on the im-portance of the non-destructive testing at the all processing stages and on the necessity of the state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment imple-mentation. The classification of the main foundry defect groups and types is given. The most important operations of the inspection process are marked. The physical task of the visual-optic inspection is stated. The structure of the initial information formation is presented. The problems of the optical contrast are examined. The advantages and disadvantages of the main optical measurement methods are analyzed. The advantages of the 3D method for the linear dimensions measurement are pointed out. Keywords: defectoscopy in the foundry objects, visual measuring defectoscopy, technical endoscopy, optical meas-urements, 3D measurement method.
