Ovcharuk V. N. Abstract. The major problems of the nondestructive inspection acoustic emission method are analyzed in the article. The comparative evaluation of the acoustic emission signals effectiveness is conducted. The inappropriateness of the analysis method in the narrow band of frequencies is shown in the article. As a case of the study the comparative results of the acoustic emission signals from spectral analysis are demonstrated. The experimental research results of the acoustic emission properties of objects of simple geometrical shapes are analyzed in the article. The research was conducted using samples made of different ceramic materials. The research results allow to make a conclusion on the necessity to analyze acoustic emission signals of a wider band of frequencies. The necessity of using spectral analysis methods to increase the accuracy and reliability of results is demonstrated. The recommendations on increasing the validity of the nondestructive inspection by acoustic emission method were given. Keywords: nondestructive testing, acoustic-emission diagnostics, spectral analysis, frequency response function.
