SPECTRAL METHOD OF CONTROL AFTER ULTRASONIC STRENGTHENING TREATMENT. PART 3
(pp. 14-25)

Abstract. It is considered the most complicated case of interference fringes occurrence on the parts subjected to ultrasonic impact peening (UIP). The interference pattern is caused by two simultaneously acting factors: regular microrelief and oxide films located on the surface. The spectral method of ultrasonic impact peening control is based on an interference pattern occurrence and caused by regular microrelief formation on the processed surface. The registration of oxide films on the samples with an oxide film and without it was conducted to determine the oxide films effect on the overall spectral pattern. The molybdenum coatings were formed on an oxide films surface by the magnetron sputtering. The coatings quality was investigated with the energy dispersive analysis by the line and the morphology of the regular microrelief by scanning electron and atomic force microscopy. It is shown that in developed spectral method of UIP control the spectral pattern occurred due to the dominant factor – regular microrelief formation on the parts surface during its ultrasonic peening. The results of investigation proved insignificance influence of the oxide films on the type and the nature of spectral pattern.

Keywords: ultrasonic impact peening, ultrasonic impact treatment, control, regular microrelief, regular submicrorelief, oxide films, magnetron sputtering, molybdenum.
