THE USE OF ELECTRICAL POTENTIAL BARRIERS AL + C TO CREATE AN AIR EQUIVALENT TO THE IONIZATION CHAMBER WITHOUT EXTERNAL POWER SUPPLY

Abstract. The article substantiates the opportunity to provide an air equivalent ionization chamber without an external power source. Using a design two materials with different electron work function of the camera allows to create ionizing radiation detector with its own internal electromotive force. Developed air is equivalent to the ionization chamber filled with air and the electrodes of Al and C, thus yielding 0.4 V = EMF and thus ensure the collection efficiency of at least 90 % of the ions at the exposure dose is not more than 1 mR/min at an air electrode gap 3 mm. For example, the pilot chamber of the sample established on the basis of calculations, it is shown that this solution can not only simplify the design of the camera, due to the absence in the construction of high-voltage electrode chamber, but also the entire system by removing the extra highly stable power supply. However, this solution provides the possibility of reducing the electrode gap. This solution makes it possible to completely get rid of the instability introduced by a high-voltage power source required in traditional solutions, and impulse noise induced by the electronic equipment X-ray machine at the power supply circuit and an additional electrode chamber.
