APPROXIMATE MODEL OF THERMOMECHANICAL PROCESSES IN ARMOR FABRIC PROTECTION WHEN INTERACTING WITH HITTING ELEMENT
(pp. 28-33)

Abstract. The paper considers mathematical modeling of mechanical and thermodynamic processes in multilayered rectangular fabric sample when impacting by an acting hitting element. An approximate theoretical model taking into account losses of mechanical energy of the impactor by irreversible deformation, inner friction and heat release is proposed. The formulated model is closed but cannot be solved analytically. For integrating the equation, a numerical method is used. The impact of a solid acting body into multilayered fabric was modeledin numerous known works on the basis of the solution of non-linear problems on the motion ofcompliant woven material what is concerned with high volume of calculations. It requires the use of high-production computers and, apparently, does notprovide the timeliness of calculations which is necessary for treatment of measurement results. Therefore, it is expedient to state simplified models based on using space-averaged physical-mechanical and thermophysical characteristics of woven material. These characteristics, subsequently, can be determined throughthe parametric identificationby data of physical experiments, and a model tuned in that way can be used for forecasting mechanical and thermophysical parameters of processes in samples of similar materials when varying the structure of woven package and quantitative interpreting results of tests with measuring temperature fields.

Keywords: armor fabric protection, thermomechanical processes, mathematical modeling, hitting element.
