FEATURES OF MEASUREMENT OF STRESSES AND DEFORMATIONS IN FERROMAGNETS BY THE BARKGAUSEN NOISE
(pp. 10-17)

Abstract. The article deals with the results of investigation on the magnetic Barkhausen effect method in the biaxial stress state of the material. Mathematical modeling, independent measurement of Barkhausen noise intensity on the cross-shaped specimen of the optimized form and using the original type biaxial loading equipment confirm the regularity of the invariance of the magnetic Barkhausen effect method relatively to any changes of spherical (isotropic) strain/stress tensor. The Barkhausen noise intensity depends only on the deviatoric (shear) stress tensor value and the spherical (isotropic) strain (stress) tensor is influenced only by the material microstructure. The disregard of this regularity leads to high uncertainty in strain (stress) evaluation via the magnetic Barkhausen effect method. Further investigation should clear up whether this regularity could be applied also to other magnetic parameters, like coercive force, residual magnetization and magnetic permeability associated with the magnetic Barkhausen effect method.
