THE INFLUENCE OF THE AIR ENVIRONMENT ON THE ACCURACY CURRENT-VOLTAGE MEAS-UREMENTS BY THE STM METHOD
(pp. 50-53)

Abstract. The influence of intermediate environment was studied between the measuring probe and the sample on the probe measurements accuracy. An appraisal of the research topic relevance has shown that the influence of the external environment on probe measurements is an actual practice problem and it is widely considered in the scientific works. The study of the scientific papers has allowed find out the main factors, which affect the accuracy of spectroscopic measurements. One of the most widespread factor is the impact of the air atmosphere. To appraise its influence, a methodology was developed for characterization spectrometric STM measurements inaccuracy contributed by the environment. The series of experiments were performed, including spectroscopic measurements with the different samples holding time on the air. The analysis of experimental data revealed the influence degree of the air environment to measurements accuracy. A quantitative estimate was made and the inaccuracy dependence was identified accordingly sample holding time. The recommendations by realization of STM measurements in the air was formulated.

Keywords: electrical measurements, probe microscopy, inaccuracy.
