COMPOSITE AIRPLANE CONSTRUCTION ACOUSTIC EMISSION TESTING DURING STATIC LOADING
(pp. 14-19)

Abstract. The results of static tests of the composite aircraft TVS-2DTS, designed for regional operation at small airfields, including the arctic environment, are presented. A method for defects monitoring during static testing of the load-bearing elements of a composite airplane by the method of acoustic emission (AE) has been developed. The defects monitoring during the tests was performed in real time mode with the certified multichannel AE-system SCAD-16.10. Signal detection zones were established at the fuselage and wings of the aircraft and 16 acoustic emission transducers (AET) were installed. The loading of the aircraft structure was carried out by a static load in steps of 10 % of Pset to the maximum load value Pmax = 0.8Pset, where Pset = 130.56 kN is the specified load value. During testing process a stable location was observed in the bulkhead area, in the wing attachment to the center wing section zone, and also in the area of the load-bearing undercarriage beam to bulkhead attachment. The analysis of the location zones showed that the most active sources emerged at the port side of the aircraft. Visual inspection of the areas of location, conducted after the tests, revealed the destruction and deformation of the load-bearing undercarriage beam to bulkhead attachment bolts along the left and right sides of the aircraft.

Keywords: airplane, composite, carbon plastic, static load, acoustic emission, sensor, location.
