DIAGNOSTICS OF RRESONANT MODES OF ROTOR BLADES DURING RESONANT TESTS OF GAS TURBINE ENGINE
(pp. 16-20)

Abstract. Measurement of amplitudes of oscillations of rotating parts by dynamic straingaging is quite difficult and expensive procedure that is usually used during research phase. That’s why it is necessary to find alternative ways to get data about blades’ oscillations. The paper presents new method for determination of zones of resonance oscillations of rotor blades and determination of resonant modes during tests of gas turbine engines. The method requires using data from static pressure fluctuation sensor Kulite XTE-190, installed on stator of gas turbine engine near blades of rotor wheel. Data from this sensor is a complex parameter as it describes that not only one but most blades are in resonant mode. It is important for determination of resonant modes during resonant tests of blades integrated in gas turbine engine. When blade is in resonant mode and peak value of resonance oscillations is increased, the peak value of static pressure fluctuations of airflow is decreased as they are generated by circular variations of airflow. Blades takes energy from airflow and in accordance with energy conservation law increase of this energy reduces energy of airflow. Described method allows increasing the integrity of resonant tests of gas turbine engine and decreases time for tests by simultaneous determination of resonant modes of blades and engine running for required time in accordance with test program. It can be used during development of gas turbine engines.

Keywords: gas turbine engine, rotor blades, pressure fluctuation, zones of resonance oscillations, resonant modes of blades, resonant tests.
