Moiseychik E. A., Yakovlev A. A. Abstract. The aim of the work was to test the applicability of thermal passive control for visualizing deformation processes in elements of steel structures. The test sample was a welded steel beam. The bending test was carried out according to the standard method. The deformation temperature was determined by infrared thermography. The surface under study was covered with scale. The results of deformation heat generation were recorded in the form of a thermal film. The metal temperature in the loading zone increased by 2…3 C. In the stretched zone of the beam, cooling by 0.5 C was observed at the initial stage of loading. Processing successive frames of the thermal film made it possible to identify the location of dangerous zones in the beam based on changes in surface temperature during deformation. Keywords: beam sample, deformation, bending, infrared thermography.
