THE ANALYSIS OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE MAXIMUM DIFFERENTIAL AND THE MAXIMUM PERMEABILITY OF STEELS
(pp. 39-45)

Abstract. Due to the analytical and statistical analyses of the magnetic properties of magnetically soft and magnetically hard steels it is revealed that there is a strong correlation between their maximum differential magnetic permeability mdm and maximum magnetic permeability mm, which is close to a linear functional dependence. This dependence can be used in practice for estimation of mdm from mm and mm from mdm. It is shown that the ratio mdm /mm can be calculated using the developed formula for steels with a known coercive force, residual magnetization and magnetization of technical saturation.

Keywords: ferromagnetic steels, magnetic structural analysis, nondestructive testing, magnetic properties, maximum differential permeability.
