AUTOMATIC INSPECTION OF METAL BODY OF GAS PIPELINES WITH NON-CONTACT ULTRASONIC SCANNER-FLAW DETECTOR А2075 SONET
(pp. 71-74)

Abstract. Noncontact ultrasonic scanner-flaw detector А2075 SoNet is applicable for automatic inspection of metal body of gas pipelines of 720…1420 mm in diameter with thickness from 6 mm in the diagnosing of gas pipelines during the overhaul. Scanner is able to successfully detect both types of flaws: stress-corrosion flaws, corrosion flaws, mechanical impacts and defects of rolled metal sheets indicating number defects, size and its coordinates. Due to the electro-magnetic transducer technology it is possible to make the inspection without contact liquid. The report presents the description of the principle of operation, the elements of construction of different device generations, describes 5-year experience of using noncontact ultrasonic scanner-flaw detector on different parts of the gas transportation system of Russian Federation.

Keywords: evaluation of technical condition, defect, scanner-flaw echo location, scanning image, electromagnetic acoustic transducer.
