THE SYSTEM OF EVALUATION OF STRENGTH OF STRUCTURES AVIATION AND ROCKET-SPACE TECHNOLOGY BASED ON THE METHOD OF ACOUSTIC EMISSION
(pp. 34-39)

Abstract. To make acoustic emission monitoring more effective a probabilistic approach has been developed toevaluating the informative emission parameters. A method has been devised for assessing the extent and risk of the damage to load-bearing elements which is based on evaluating changes in distributions of the informative parameters of acoustic emission processes during structural deformation with the use of invariants. The values of the proposed invariants are not dependent on the amplitude and intensity of acoustic emission signals and hence on the structure’s form, dimensions and performance history. This is due to the fact that the shape of statistical distributions of the informative emission parameters is defined solely by physics of processes occurred in a structure being deformed. Multichannel acoustic emission hardware and software complexes have been developed on the basis of invariants of acoustic emission processes, the experimental technique, and the stress-strain state modeling procedure. The relationship between the acoustic emission processes’ statistical regularities and destruction processes has been studied experimentally. The suggested system for serviceability evaluation of structures implemented in acoustic emission hardware and software complexes makes it possible to quickly and efficiently process the multichannel and multiparameter information about changes of the informative parameters of acoustic emission and positions of defects as well as to assess how critical the defects are and whether the structure can be used in prospect or not.An example has been given of how the results obtained can be used in assessing the strength of liquid rocket engine exits.

Keywords: strength of structures, aircraft equipment, rocket and space technology, acoustic emission, invariants.
