MAIN TASKS AND PROBLEMS OF APPLICATION OF THE AE METHOD IN INDUSTRY (MEETING OF THE RONCTD COMMITTEE ON THE AE METHOD)

Abstract. Information about the meeting of the Joint Expert Council on Acoustic Emission within the framework of the NDT Territory Forum is presented. In the reports at the session the topical problems and tasks of the acoustic emission diagnostic method are considered. It was shown that nondestructive testing methods that measure parameters of defects in conjunction with the methods of fracture mechanics can calculate the probability of failure of the object and perform risk assessment of the accident. The AE method is able to do this directly, because the criteria for evaluating the AE sources contain information about the state of the object. This potential ability must be fully realized. The tasks of developing standards for various industrial objects are formulated.
