INCREASING THE RELIABILITY OF ROPE WIRE BREAK’S DETECTION USING A HIGH RESOLUTION MAGNETIC MEASURING SYSTEM
(pp. 54-59)

Abstract. The main method of non-destructive testing of steel ropes today is magnetic rope testing. Notably one of the most important testing tasks is to determine the number of broken rope wires in clusters. Application of a magnetic measuring system with high angular resolution can help solve this problem. However, interpreting the data of such a measuring system turns out to be quite difficult, especially in the case of 6-strand ropes. This article analyzes the capabilities of a high-resolution measuring system for identifying individual breaks in a cluster and discusses a data processing method that reduces the impact of typical regular interference on solving this problem.

Keywords: magnetic rope testing, high resolution magnetic measuring system, signal processing.
