A new approach to using the acoustic method for monitoring the condition of a well casing is considered. One of the problems in assessing well leaks is the lack of a method that would allow monitoring the well casing during operation with minimal energy and financial costs for subsoil users.Taking into account the shortcomings of the existing technologies, a new methodology is being developed that will be able to complement the existing solutions and optimize the process of operating production facilities. This methodology will further allow integrating new ultrasonic systems for monitoring the integrity of extended objects made of ring-shaped cement stone into the adopted well construction model. The purpose of the study is to determine the patterns of change in the characteristics of an acoustic signal in the presence of a defect in a ring-shaped cement stone using the pulsed method of acoustic wave passage in order to create a modern system for monitoring the condition of well casing during operation. The article presents the results of applying the pulsed method of acoustic wave passage on extended objects of annular shape up to 8 m in order to detect longitudinal channels (separation of cement stone from the metal pipe) and transverse cracks. The obtained data are compared with the results of modeling in specialized COMSOL Multiphysics software and tests using the AKTs-48 geophysical cement meter. Samples with insulating material and samples with contact over the entire surface of the pipe are considered, which made it possible to evaluate the effectiveness of the method for detecting cracks and gaps at the contact of the casing and cement stone. Keywords: pulsed acoustic wave method, sealed cement stone, crack prevention, continuous monitoring.
