Abstract. A comparative analysis of various non-destructive testing methods (ultrasonic, video recording and magnetic) is carried out in terms of their suitability for monitoring the condition of a track. It is experimentally confirmed that the magnetic method (MFL) has advantages in terms of stability and comparability of signals, which makes it the most suitable for automated monitoring. As an example, the possibility of monitoring rail joint gaps based on data obtained as a result of non-destructive testing by mobile diagnostic tools is considered. A technique for synchronizing data obtained during multiple passes of diagnostic tools using magnetic method signals is presented. Examples of joint gap monitoring based on MFL method data are given, demonstrating the possibility of detecting deviations from standard values and predicting the condition of a track. The development of this direction can lead to the creation of a comprehensive system of predictive analytics of the state of railway infrastructure.
