STUDY OF THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN ACOUSTIC EMISSION PARAMETERS AND THE STAGES OF THE MUTUAL SPHERICAL LAPPING PROCESS OF JOINT COMPONENTS
(pp. 51-62)

Abstract. The research is aimed at developing automated equipment for the mutual spherical lapping of joint components. The lapping process was implemented on a dedicated rig, allowing for the study of changes in acoustic emission signal parameters during various stages of the process. The relationships between acoustic emission parameters and the increase in the contact area of the spherical surfaces, the change in the friction torque during joint rotation, and the state of the diamond paste in the contact area were studied. It was found that acoustic signals can be used to create a monitoring system for automated process automation.

Keywords: acoustic emission, spherical joints, mutual lapping, loose abrasive, amplitude spectrum, contact patch, friction torque, acoustic monitoring.
