ABOUT RECOVERY OF SAMPLED ACOUSTIC SIGNALS
(pp. 14-32)

Abstract. Simulation studies have been conducted to identify patterns in the relationship between the sampling rates of harmonic and polyharmonic processes and their numerical and functional characteristics. To compare the signals, the Pearson correlation coefficient, harmonic and nonlinear distortion coefficients, and the error in restoring spectral components in the signal spectrum were selected. By comparing the characteristics of the reference and studied signals, it was found that in order to ensure an error in restoring spectral components in the entire frequency range of less than 1 %, the sampling frequency must be selected at least 30 times higher than the maximum frequency in the signal spectrum. The obtained data are relevant for analog-to-digital conversion and digital processing of acoustic, vibroacoustic, acoustic emission signals, as well as some other signals, such as cardiograms.

Keywords: discretization, Kotelnikov theorem, sampling theorem, acoustic, acoustic-emission, vibroacoustic, reconstruction error, square of Pearson correlation coefficient.
