A MODERN APPROACH TO VIBRATION DIAGNOSTICS OF ROTARY EQUIPMENT IN THE CONTEXT OF A SHORTAGE OF QUALIFIED PERSONNEL
(pp. 18-24)

Abstract. The article discusses the systemic problems of implementing vibration diagnostics at industrial enterprises in the Russian Federation, including the lack of qualified specialists and the absence of unified methodological support. The use of automated expert systems is proposed as a solution to these problems. The article uses the example of a portable diagnostic expert system called DIES to demonstrate the capabilities of vibration diagnostics and vibration adjustment of a boiler smoke exhaust fan at a waste incineration plant. The system automatically identified a range of defects, including imbalance of the impeller and loose support mounting. During one work shift, most of the defects were eliminated: the anchor bolts were tightened, and the rotor was dynamically balanced, resulting in a reduction of the vibration level by more than 5 times. The subsequent bearing failure predicted by the system confirmed the high accuracy of the diagnostics. Thus, expert systems such as DIES are an effective tool for transitioning to actual condition-based maintenance, compensating for the lack of personnel experience and increasing equipment reliability.
