The article presents the experience of detecting defects which are not typical for the standard application of acoustic emission control of equipment in the oil and gas industry. The methodology of control and criteria for assessing detected defects are described based on modern regulatory documentation. The results of monitoring equipment located at three different enterprises are analyzed. The purpose, technical and technological features, as well as typical defects that occur on equipment of this type are considered. Location maps and graphs of the dependence of acoustic emission pulse parameters are presented, compared with the results of verification of the identified sources of acoustic emission performed using other methods. The causes of the occurrence and the reliability of the control results are noted. Keywords: acoustic emission control, defects, oil and gas industry, location maps, plating detachment, hydrogen delamination (blistering), stress-strain state of the weld.
